NT

been doing a crap load of driving the last few days but its been pretty good just dodging the cattle and the big reds on the road and eating a good amount of bull dust which pours into the car from every hole. and we both shot this boar fair up the date and dropped him today

THE SAVANNAH KING

just passed through Normanton a few days ago and this is one of the first things you see when you drive into town. An 8+ metre world record croc. its an accurate sculpture of the beast that was shot only 53 years ago.

YEAH SO...

Just thought we would give you an update with a few things that have gone wrong with the rig so far,

CAR first the the brakes fell off no biggy really, we just took the bolts out of the seat belts and bolted them back on. then the muffler fell off, a farmer was nice enough to lend us some wire from his fence so we fixed that. next we noticed there was a hole in the petrol tank haven't quite fixed that one yet (any advice would be great), the bonnet is held closed with a tie down.

TRAILER rolled a few tyres off the rims, bent the stub axels pretty bad easy fixed roll the axel over and hope they bend back straight. bent and snapped a heap of bolts.

So nothing major yet, should be right to get us to Darwin

HOGS

just spent 2 days driving from weipa to normanton which is down in the gulf. we took a few backroads hoping to see some pigs and werent disappointed. we spotted a mob of 20 and got pretty pumped up but they were off before we were ready. after seeing them we were a little more ready and we drove into the next watering hole, were mitch stoned his first pig with the 6.5. from about 100metres. up early and on the road again we picked up a local blackfella who had run out of petty in the middle of nowhere and he was a champ although he tricked us into taking him 200kms to the next town he had a good eye and spotted bams pig under a tree which he nailed with the 44 magnum from about 100 metres

weipa

just spent 3 days in windy weipa been blowing its ass off the whole time and doesnt look like stopping. we heard that pera head was where we want to fish so we planned for a rough wet ride down there as its 45km down the coast with access by boat only. it was definitely worth the mission down there though. we thought we would try mono instead of wire and although we had more hook ups it isnt worth it because we lost a lot of tackle $$$. but even after we put wire on we were still loosing gear to some oversized mackrel. i had one to the boat and saw a big flash before he took off for the bottom and went chewed through my 60lb wire. then we got bams fish in the boat and my fish straight after. then 5 min later the dragged went off and another fish we couldnt stop. we chased him in the boat and he eventually snapped us off again. good fishing here but the wind is a bit rubbish

vrilya point

spent 3 nights out at vrilya point which is about 100kms south of the cape on the gulf side was pretty amazing had a camp right on the water at the river mouth, spent the mornings casting slugs at mac tuna out the front all ranging about 2-4kgs but super fun on the light gear and we spent the arvos fishing the river which was the best river i have fished i think. the river was full of golden trevaly, goldspot trevally which were taking our lures every second cast and we even caught a rare diamond trevally. also had a little reef shark smash up my favourite deep diver when we were getting it out of his gob. seen a couple more crocs in the river and caught our first barra in a crab trap but we swam him off because he was only little.
mac tuna were sick on light gear
some of the golden trevally that were on offer in the river

old telegraph track

we concurred the old telegraph track with the boat and car still in 1 piece, everyone we met said there was no way the rig would make it and even questioned us as drivers which was probably a fair assumption. but we fucking smashed it. i highly recommend anyone coming to the cape to do the whole tele track its one of the highlights of the cape.
